SaaS subscribers, MRR & churn calculator

Translate recurring revenue goals into subscribers, including the effect of customer churn.

Churn applies to starting subscribers; additions arrive at month end. ARPU stays constant. Customer churn differs from revenue churn. MRR is recurring revenue, not profit. Annual contracts should be normalized monthly.

No sign-up. No financial inputs sent to a server.
UNDERSTAND YOUR NUMBERS

The formula, without the mystery.

Target subscribers = ceil(MRR / ARPU); new subscribers = ceil(target − current × (1 − churn))

A worked example

10,000 MRR at 50 per subscriber requires 200 subscribers. Starting at 150 with 5% monthly churn, expect 142.5 retained subscribers and need 58 new ones this month.

Does this model expansion revenue?

No. It assumes a constant average monthly revenue per subscriber. Upgrades, downgrades, refunds and usage billing need a more detailed revenue model.

Keep the assumptions consistent

Use one planning period and one currency. Enter amounts consistently excluding sales tax or VAT. These simplified models do not account for uncertainty, inventory limits, working capital or progressive taxes. Results are planning estimates.
